In 2002 Russell Maliphant Company were awarded a Time Out Live Award for 'Outstanding Collaboration' for the work 'Sheer', and the Peoples Choice Award from the Festival De La Nouvelle Danse in Montreal.

Russell was awarded a South Bank Show Award for Dance in 2003 and his work Broken Fall, which premiered at The Royal Opera House in December 2003 with Sylvie Guillem, Michael Nunn and William Trevitt, won an Olivier Award for Best New Dance Production.

2004 marked the 10th anniversary of collaboration between Russell Maliphant and lighting designer Michael Hulls.
